Travel insurance

Clients who take out this insurance can travel knowing that, if the need arises, treatment abroad will be paid for by the insurer.

Cover can include sudden illness, accidents, or cases where the insured person causes damage to a third party abroad. Travel insurance also applies to lost or delayed luggage and to a cancelled or abandoned trip.

Types of cover

Medical expenses cover for travel abroad

This cover reimburses the cost of essential treatment abroad following sudden illness or injury, as well as essential medical transport back to Lithuania for further treatment and repatriation costs.

The sum insured is stated in the policy and depends on the country visited.

If outpatient treatment and prescribed medication are needed abroad, the insured person may pay invoices of up to €250 themselves and submit the original invoices and receipts to the insurer. The documents must state the diagnosis, the date of treatment and the services provided.

Personal accident cover

Available only together with medical expenses and repatriation cover.

Benefits are paid in the event of death, disability, bone fractures and temporary incapacity.

After an accident you must see a doctor immediately and no later than 48 hours. If the insured person dies as a result of an accident, the insurer must be notified within 48 hours.

Luggage cover

Available only together with medical expenses and repatriation cover.

Covers luggage or an item of luggage if it is lost, completely destroyed, damaged or delivered late.

Loss must be reported to the insurer verbally within 3 calendar days and in writing within 7 days.

Money, securities, tickets, documents of any kind and electronic data-processing equipment are not covered.

Trip cancellation cover

Available only together with medical expenses and repatriation cover.

Reimburses costs arising from the cancellation or interruption of a booked and paid trip, as well as delayed departure or a missed connection.

The sum insured is the price of the trip. If only tickets are bought or a hotel is reserved, it is the price of those tickets or the booking fee.

If the policy is taken out at least 14 days before departure, cover applies to cancellation, delayed departure, interruption and missed connections. If taken out less than 14 days before, cover applies only to interruption and missed connections.

Insured events include the death, serious injury or sudden serious illness of the insured person or their close relatives, and damage to the home of the insured person or their spouse.

Travel documents and money cover

Available only together with medical expenses and repatriation cover.

Reimburses costs arising from the loss of travel documents and money during a trip abroad.

If cash or payment cards are lost, the fee for an emergency money transfer is reimbursed up to €75, along with related telephone costs up to €25.

If travel documents are lost, the cost of replacement documents is reimbursed up to €60, travel to the nearest issuing office up to €90, and hotel accommodation for up to 3 days, capped at €150.

The total sum insured for travel documents and money is €400.

Personal liability cover during travel

Available only together with medical expenses and repatriation cover.

Covers the insured person's liability for damage negligently caused to another person's health or property.

Where parents are insured, cover extends to damage caused by their minor children (under 16).

Every insured event must be reported to the insurer in writing within 3 calendar days.

Frequently asked questions

Is insurance mandatory to get a visa?

For Russia and Belarus, yes. A Russian visa requires at least €30,000 of cover listing "Russia" as the territory; Belarus requires €10,000 listing "Belarus" or "Белгосстрах". For China and Vietnam insurance is not mandatory but is recommended.

Can I buy insurance from you along with the visa?

Yes. We prepare the policy together with the visa, so there is no separate search and no doubt about whether the policy meets consular requirements.

What if my insurance is shorter than the visa?

A visa is only issued for the period covered by the insurance. So the insurance term has to be set to match the visa you want, not the other way round.

What should I do if something happens abroad?

Deadlines vary by cover type: accidents – see a doctor within 48 hours; luggage and documents – notify the insurer verbally within 3 calendar days and in writing within 7; financial losses – in writing within 12 hours. Your policy states the exact conditions.
